Set backs, time to rest and heal, and back at it

Good morning! I wanted to pop on and apologize for not getting a weekly blog post out for several weeks now.
Illness hit me. First Flu A. For the first time in my whole 57 years, I had the flu. I managed it naturally with herbs and supplements and only felt really bad for about 3 to 4 days. I thought great! Getting over this no problem...then a week in bronchitis started. Wonderful!
I managed to stop the bronchitis in two days by using the herb mullein in addition to the other herbs and supplements I was already taking to combat the flu. This is photo of the mullein that I harvested mine from earlier in the year and used the dried leaves to help kick the bronchitis.

Ok great! On track now! Until a sinus infection then settled in. Typical presentation of swollen face, severe headaches, completely stopped up...just miserable. I tried for a few days to combat it myself with additional measures, but when I hit the two week mark from the start of the flu symptoms I called uncle and called my doctor.
I typically don't take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary, but it was time.
I took the first dose Thursday evening...and by midnight I was taken to the local emergency room with a severe reaction to the very first dose. I will spare you the gruesome details, but if you Google Drug Induced enterocolitis syndrome aka DIES, you can learn that it was a non IgE allergic reaction to the antibiotic.
I was given a different antibiotic by the ER Dept. because my bloodwork did show an active infection that needed to be treated. Needless to say, I was a bit gun shy about taking anything!
I consulted with my sister in love, Ginger, who happens to be a PhD Pharmacist, and she recommended some good probiotics for me based on the issues and recommended by the latest journals she has been reviewing. So very grateful for family who has such knowledge!
I am well now and recovered from all illness and reaction, Praise God!
This last bout of illness and subsequent reaction to prescription medication has made it very clear. I need to double down on my herbal education and learn more ways to help myself naturally. I will share what I learn and also share photos of the new herb bed planned for this year.
Being down 3 weeks total here on the farm has set things back even further than the normal amount I am behind, BUT I am eternally grateful for healing and restoration.
We are in the first weeks of hatching season, start of the garden season, grass mowing season and we are still working on getting pasture fence installed.

I also just started weight training with fellow farmHER, Jami Bova, of Happy Wife Farm. So very blessed that Jami is a certified personal trainer and she has graciously agreed to let me come work out with her three days a week.
I am determined to get healthier, stronger and help others through our farm and education as well.
I will be posting weekly now that I am back up and going!
Thanks for sticking with us. ❤️
